Rebel scientists force Royal Society to accept climate change scepticism

By Ben Webster Britain’s premier scientific institution is being forced to review its statements on climate change after a rebellion by members who question mankind’s contribution to rising temperatures. The Royal Society has appointed a panel to rewrite the 350-year-old institution’s official position on global warming. It will publish a new “guide to the science of climate change” this summer. The society has been accused by 43 of its Fellows of refusing to accept dissenting views on climate change and exaggerating the degree of certainty that man-made emissions are the main cause. The society appears to have conceded that it needs to correct previous statements. It said: “Any public perception that science is somehow fully settled is wholly incorrect – there is always room for new observations, theories, measurements.” This contradicts a comment by the society’s previous president, Lord May, who was once quoted as saying…

Climategate: the Whitewash Continues

By James Delingpole The Royal Society (Motto: Nullius in Verba Unless It’s About Global Warming In Which Case We’re Happy To Believe Whatever Unsubstantiated Drivel We’re Fed By Michael Mann, Phil Jones, et al) has announced who’ll be chairing its “independent” inquiry into the science behind the Climategate scandal. And guess what? The man could scarcely be more parti pris if they’d given the job to Al Gore. His name is Lord Oxburgh and, as Bishop Hill reports , he is: President of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association Chairman of wind energy firm Falck Renewables A member of the Green Fiscal Commission So the chairman of this “independent panel” has a direct financial interest in the outcome. January 20, 2010 Telegraph.co.uk By Rebecca Smith Despite assertions that screening saves 1,400 lives a year, there is no evidence the programme has cut deaths, the article in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine said. Controversy over the benefits of breast cancer screening were first raised last year when experts said women were not being told of

Climategate Investigator Is Member Of Vehemently Pro-Man Made Global Warming Organization

Paul Joseph Watson Prison Planet.com Friday, December 4, 2009 A civil servant who is a member of one of the most vehemently pro man-made global warming advocacy organizations in Europe which also has direct ties to the IPCC has been handed the job of whitewashing the investigation into the University of East Anglia, while absurdly billing himself as impartial and unconnected to climate science. Meanwhile, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has ludicrously announced that it will conduct its own investigation into the climategate scandal, despite the fact that the suspects involved have intimate ties to the IPCC, with one of the primary scientists accused of manipulating climate data being a lead author of the 1995, 2001, and 2007 IPCC reports. “The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) is the leading body for assessing climate change science,” reports the Daily Mail . IPCC chairman Dr Rajendra Pachauri told the BBC the claims were serious and he wanted them investigated. “We will certainly go into the whole lot and then we will take a position on it,’…

It’s already too late to shut the door on GM foods

(NaturalNews) A report from the British Royal Society has been released that urges support for genetically-modified foods by the British public in order to address what it deems the world’s growing demand for food. The report also reveals the disturbing reality about just how far genetically-modified (GM) foods have already penetrated the food supply in England, despite widespread public rejection of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) roughly a decade ago. Over the years, Brits have been led to believe that their diets are GMO-free. Truth be told, nearly two-thirds of the roughly 2.6 million tons of soy that is imported into the United Kingdom each and every year is GM and most people there are entirely unaware of it. Though used primarily for animal feed, GM soy has been making its way into the British food supply for years due to the fact that manufacturers and retailers are not properly tracking the source of their soy, allowing GM soy to make its way into …

Experts Say that Fears Surrounding Climate Change are Overblown

By Hannah Devlin Alarming predictions that climate change will lead to the extinction of hundreds of species may be exaggerated, according to Oxford scientists. They say that many biodiversity forecasts have not taken into account the complexities of the landscape and frequently underestimate the ability of plants and animals to adapt to changes in their environment. “The evidence of climate change-driven extinctions have really been overplayed,” said Professor Kathy Willis, a long-term ecologist at the University of Oxford and lead author of the article. Professor Willis warned that alarmist reports were leading to ill-founded biodiversity policies in government and some major conservation groups. She said that climate change has become a “buzz word” that is taking priority while, in practice, changes in human use of land have a greater impact on the survival of species. “I’m certainly not a climate change denier, far from it, but we have to have sound policies for managing our ecosystems,” she said. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature backed the article, saying that climate…
